About Us

Becky D. Bull, founder and director of COCCO, began her journey in music education in Maryland in 1983. In 1995, Becky received her National Certification from the Music Teachers National Association. She is also a published composer with the Southern Music Company in San Antonio, Texas, contributing significantly to the field of music education.

Among Becky's numerous awards are the Butterfly Award for her efforts in bringing music to disadvantaged children, the Woman of the Year title from the Business and Professional Women's Club in 2000, the Tennessee ASTA Teacher of the Year Award in 2001, and the Tennessee Governor's School for the Arts Outstanding Teacher Award in 2003. Her contributions have earned her recognition in notable publications, such as Who's Who of American Women, 2000 Outstanding Musicians of the 20th Century, and Who's Who Among American Teachers in 2005. Additionally, Becky has received several nominations for prestigious honors like the Elizabeth A. H. Green Award and the Grammy Music Educator Award.

This past year, COCCO's students, under her guidance, earned 74 Superior Medals at the Solo and Ensemble competitions in Cookeville, Tennessee. Over the years, Becky's students have brought home a remarkable total of 1,592 Superior Medals. COCCO also achieved a First-Place Superior rating at Dollywood in May 2017, showcasing the excellence in music education that Becky Bull has championed.

Currently, Becky is an active member of several organizations, including ASTA, NAfME, MTSBOA, ETSBOA, and BMI. She earned her bachelor's and master's degrees in education from Towson University in Towson, Maryland, and she has completed post-graduate work at Belmont University and NYU with the renowned Juilliard instructor, Dorothy DeLay.

In 2004, Becky attended the Ashokan Fiddle Camp with Jay Ungar and Molly Mason in New York. On October 1st, 2014, she took several COCCO students to see Yo-Yo Ma, offering them a unique opportunity to meet the world-famous cellist.

Since founding COCCO in 1997, Becky has dedicated over 7,000 hours to service. In April 2019, she was honored with the TMEA service award and the Marquis Who's Who Top Professional Award. Though Becky is currently retired from her music education career in the public school system, she continues to run a music studio and remains dedicated to her work with COCCO and its youth orchestra.
